MADISON (WKOW) -- The bells of the new cathedral in Madison, Cathedral of St. Bernard of Clairvaux, have been hung.
The 27,000-pound bells and support structure were installed in the tower by crane Wednesday.
Renovations to St. Bernard Church have been ongoing since 2023, when the Holy See elevated the church to become the Diocese of Madison’s new cathedral.
The Diocese of Madison has been without a cathedral since 2005 when St. Raphael Cathedral was destroyed in an arson fire.
"It's been a collection of people, and gifts, and talents that have all come together to make this a beautiful, beautiful place," said Rev. Michael Radowicz.
The parish is in its final stages of renovation.
Radowicz says they are hoping to open the parish sometime this winter before the Easter season.
