MARATHON CO. (WAOW) - Workers have completed a significant rebuild on the DuBay Dam, the largest project since its original construction in 1942. The project aimed to enhance the safety and durability of the dam.

The Consolidated Water Power Company (CWPCo) owns five dams on the Wisconsin River. The project on their most northern dam replaced original material from the operator deck, extending the dam's lifespan. A maintenance team of 10, led by manager Matt Gillette, undertook the project.

"It holds back Lake DuBay which is about 7,000 acres, and it creates recreational opportunities for the community," said Gillette.

Fishermen continue to enjoy the waters during this time of year. Company president Mark Burkhardt highlighted the project's importance to the company's values.
