ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - We are now 36 days into the government shutdown , making this the longest in modern history.

We checked in with local agencies to see how they’re holding up.

In a time of uncertainty, Feeding Southwest Virginia is helping families keep food on the table.

CEO Pamela Irvine said Roanoke, Danville and Franklin County had the most SNAP recipients in our hometowns.

She said things are looking up since receiving $180,000 from the governor.

“That enabled us to be able to purchase four tractor trailers of food,” Irvine said. “We just continue to prepare for long-term, strengthening our partner agencies, and also being there for individuals that are not getting paid right now.”
