INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration says partial SNAP benefits for November will be delayed by "at least one week."

The USDA is recalculating the partial benefits for all 274,000 SNAP households in the state of Indiana. Benefits would normally start going out on the fifth of the month, but will be delayed as the USDA calculates the partial benefits.

Those partial benefits come after a court ordered the Trump administration to distribute the remaining SNAP funds during the shutdown. SNAP, unlike other welfare benefits like Social Security and Medicare, are funded during the budget process and are not considered "mandatory spending."
