WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - Residents in Beaufort County now have the opportunity to understand how their county operates with the launch of a new program, Citizens Academy.

The program begins January 26th and ends April 6th of next year. Classes will be held once per week on Thursday evenings.

According to a news release, the goal of Citizens Academy is to educate residents about county operations and engagement opportunities, allow residents to offer feedback on county services, and improve communication from county departments.

Participants will be able to explore the county’s government, with classes including presentations, budgeting activities, and facility tours.
