LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - The Linn County Board of Supervisors approved giving $80,000 to HACAP’s food pantry from Witwer Trust Grant funds.
This decision comes as Linn County residents need food access during the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) delays and the government shutdown. The $80,000 represents the entire grant for fiscal year 2026.
Linn County will not offer its regular grant application cycle this year because of this decision. The board of supervisors plan to return to the normal program in November 2026.
On October 30, Reynolds told HHS to use state funds to match food bank donations up to $1 million. The six regional food banks included in the match serve all 99 counties.
