LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The City of Laredo Municipal Court is partnering with Laredo Animal Care Services (LACS) to allow people with outstanding citation fees to foster pets in exchange for community service hours.

Participants can earn between four to eight hours of community service credit for overnight fostering, depending on the type of animal they care for.

The program requires participants to complete a vetting process before being approved to foster animals.

“The people are going to have the qualifications to be able to be fosters, it’s not going to be anyone who’s going to be fostering. They’re going to go through certain requirements,” said Judge Jesus Dominguez of Laredo Municipal Court.
