ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — As the uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits continues, local organizations have stepped up to help those in need, including the grocery chain, Tops.

Their annual Food for Families donation drive has kicked off earlier than usual. The drive specifically benefits local food pantries, like Foodlink.

Mark Dwyer, Foodlink's director of marketing and communications, said this year's Food for Families has an extra sense of urgency.

"We always see generosity on display during the holidays, especially," Dwyer said. "But, given the situation that we're facing this year with SNAP, a lot of people have stepped up, not only those foundations and organizations, but individuals as well."
