RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — High school students across Wake County will get the chance to offer the district insight on potential security concerns at their respective schools.

"There are few people that are going to know the school as well as the students," said Board Chair Chris Heagarty.

Starting next month, Wake County Public Schools will be surveying its high schoolers, getting information on some of their concerns about school safety.

"If we’re really trying to make sure that students both feel safe and are safe, talk to them first, it makes perfect sense," said Heagarty.

The survey will run from Dec. 1 through Dec. 12. It includes more than a dozen questions, including likelihood of bullying, frequency of fights and overall concerns about violence.
