In a bit of a surprising move, the Jets are benching starting linebacker Quincy Williams.

I would agree that Quincy has had a disappointing season. Still I have to say I did not see this coming. Williams has a good track record in this league, most notably shown in his First Team All Pro selection in 2023. More than that, one might wonder why the Jets didn’t trade him at the trade deadline if they were intent on benching him anyway. Williams is a free agent at the end of the season. Between this and the trade of his brother Quinnen, it would seem the odds of him returning are something close to zero. You have to think the Jets could have gotten something in return had they shopped him, even if it was as small as a late round pick swap.
