BUFFALO, N.Y. — There was something happening where the Democrats gathered on election night in Erie County.
Voters in the Town of Amherst made history by electing the first Black person to serve on the town board.
John Davis works as a senior energy project manager. He also serves on the Amherst planning board. According to his website, Davis' job entails leading infrastructure projects for municipal clients.
On election night, he told the crowd, "Oh my gosh, this is amazing. I did not prepare anything. I was just so focused on winning, but Amherst Democrats made it plain and clear. They are ready for progress. They're ready for the first black councilman in Western New York in Amherst. Yes!"
