Powerful thunderstorms could produce a tornado just about anywhere across western Oregon the afternoon and evening of Nov. 5, according to the National Weather Service.
Meteorologists said the odds of a funnel cloud developing were low, but that the ingredients were in place for “stronger showers and thunderstorms to have the potential to produce locally damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and/or a funnel cloud or brief tornado,” a special weather statement said .
“It could pop up anywhere,” NWS meteorologist David Bishop said. “The areas of concern would really be anywhere from the Cascade Foothills westward. It’s a large area, but the odds are also very, very low.”
