The Los Angeles Chargers are getting some offensive line help after they traded for New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Trevor Penning on Tuesday. Penning, who was the Saints’ starting left guard, could start for the Chargers at left tackle.

Penning has played at left tackle, right tackle, and left guard over his career, so the Chargers can slot him in as they see fit on their offensive line.

The move comes after starting left tackle Joe Alt suffered a high ankle sprain that will force him to miss the rest of the season. Alt had missed three previous games with a high ankle sprain before reinsuring it.
