COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A former South Carolina state lawmaker has been indicted on 10 federal charges related to theft and fraud.

Former State Rep. Marvin Pendarvis was indicted Wednesday on four counts of wire fraud, three counts of aggravated identity theft, two counts of money laundering and one count of fraud stemming from transactions related to illegal activities.

The indictment states all ten counts are related to Pendarvis’s work as a personal injury attorney and happened while he was serving in the South Carolina House of Representatives from January 2022 to April 2024.

Pendarvis allegedly negotiated settlements for his clients but then either failed to inform them that a settlement had been reached or would tell them the settlement was for less money than what was actual
