GARRETT — Garrett Police Chief Gerald Kline will be leaving his his position effective next week.
Mayor Todd Fiandt read Kline's letter of resignation at Tuesday’s Garrett Common Council meeting. Kline was not present.
Kline's letter reads:
“It has been my distinct honor and privilege to serve the citizens of DeKalb County and law enforcement for more than 37 years. Of those, 34 dedicated to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department and for the past three years, serving as chief of police for the city of Garrett. Effective Nov. 9, 2025 will be my last official day as chief of police. I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served the citizens of Garrett. And have worked alongside dedicated men and women of the greater police department. I will continue being part of the community how
