CLEVELAND, Ohio — It’s time to dig out the winter jacket — and maybe the snow shovel, too.

A powerful cold front sweeping through the Great Lakes this weekend will usher in the coldest air of the season so far — cold enough to bring the first flakes to parts of Northeast Ohio by late Sunday.

While snow on Sunday night looked possible earlier this week, it wasn’t necessarily a guarantee. Now, the chances are firming up.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a developing storm system will track across Northeast Ohio on Sunday, bringing widespread rain during the day followed by a quick changeover to snow Sunday night as temperatures plunge.
