BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The Bryan City Council is set to consider a familiar face for the city manager position, former Mayor Andrew Nelson.
The Bryan City Council will discuss Nelson’s appointment during its regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Nelson served as Mayor of Bryan from 2016 to 2022. During that time, he navigated challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and Winter Storm Uri. Nelson also saw the completion of the annexation of the Texas A&M-RELLIS Campus, the development of Travis Bryan Midtown Park and the Legends Event Center.
Deputy City Manager Hugh Walker has been serving as acting city manager since Nov. 3, following the retirement of Kean Register.
If appointed, Nelson would begin his new role on Nov. 24.
