RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Raleigh woman and her boyfriend made their first appearance in Wake County Court Wednesday after her twin toddlers were exposed to fentanyl earlier in the week.

Both 25-year-old Vinus Humphreys and 28-year-old Tyrone Bannerman are charged with two counts of felony child abuse in connection with the incident on Monday. Bannerman is also charged with trafficking opium/heroin, manufacturing a Schedule II controlled substance, and possessing up to a half-ounce of marijuana.

The couple appeared in court the day after their arrest on Tuesday. Bannerman received $1.5 million secured bond and Humphreys received $100,000 secured bond. They were also ordered to have no contact with the 22-month-old twins, a boy and a girl.
