While it may be warmer this weekend, Lakeway Area residents should brace for the coldest air of the season to come in after the weekend.
Nathan Wellington, meteorologist on duty at the NWS, said Wednesday that temperatures will gradually drop by Sunday.
“There is going to be a series of cold fronts working its way through the region this week,” Wellington said. “The coldest one will come on Sunday.”
Wellington said that Sunday is an air mass change day before the first hard freeze Monday morning. There’s a slight chance for snow flurries on Monday.
“This hard freeze will go across all of East Tennessee,” Wellington said. “Daytime highs will struggle to get to 40 degrees.”
A second consecutive hard freeze will take place Monday night which will be harder than Sunday night.
