LOGAN, Ohio — The small city of Logan, tucked between the trees and rolling hills of Hocking County, is preparing for another economic hit as one of its largest employers plans to shut down operations.
Beginning Dec. 1, TOPS Products, a paper products manufacturer that acquired a printer company called Smead, will close its doors, a move Mayor Greg Fraunfelter said will have a devastating impact on the community.
“Here, we are losing a factory and 207 jobs,” Fraunfelter said. “That’s huge for a city the size of Logan, 207 jobs. It’s a big loss.”
Fraunfelter said the company employed residents who had been with the plant for decades.
