CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) -- "We will give back because they gave to us."
That was the promise from three Hampton Roads families who are back on American soil after escaping the wrath of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
The Pope, Crawford and Elliott families met with 10 On Your Side 12 hours after their plane landed at Norfolk International Airport for a look back at how they escaped the fury of a Category 5 hurricane and what they learned about the people of Jamaica.
Amber Crawford, who lives across the street from Shelly and Jessica Pope, was in tears when she reflected on the damage caused by a hurricane that rapidly intensified to the deadly category of five.
