VERMILION PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office is implementing new technology to enhance public safety and reduce costs, as discussed at their recent "Sippin with the Sheriff" event.

During the event, the public had the opportunity to learn about new camera operations being installed across the parish to aid in investigations and improve safety. These cameras are part of an initiative to solve crimes more efficiently and save community funds by reducing reliance on external resources.

"A lot of the things I deal with is with the cameras and trying to build that network out throughout the parish," said Shawn Jumoville with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office.
