EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- The El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) Board of Trustees has announced the next phase of superintendent searching.

As KTSM previously reported, former Superintendent Diana Sayavedra agreed to voluntarily retire back in June. She was reassigned to superintendent emeritus on June 15 and will retire from her position on Jan. 31, 2026.

Chief Financial Officer Martha Aguirre was appointed interim superintendent and began her new position on June 16.

Since then, the district has put itself on a "timeline" for the search for a new leader, providing the following dates: • Stakeholder and application feedback deadline on Oct. 10 • Review of Applications on Nov. 10 • Initial interviews on Nov. 14 and 17 • Follow-up interviews on Dec. 2 and 3 • Posting o
