BRUNSWICK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Concerned community members voiced their opposition Wednesday night to a proposed National Grid natural gas transfer station in Brunswick.
Rensselaer County Legislature members sponsored legislation to oppose its construction on Spring Avenue. Residents' reasons ranged from not wanting it near their homes to simply not seeing the necessity.
"This is a very inappropriate place to construct an energy transfer station that's going to be having 36 tanker trucks pumping gas into a pipeline above ground. National Grid has a great safety record and everything else, but there really is no safety record with these facilities."
