SPOKANE, Wash. — On November 3, after six months of detainment in Spokane County Jail, a two day trial, and nearly two hours of jury deliberations: Martin Diaz found not guilty of assault on a federal officer.
As the verdict was read, the audience heard an audible sigh of relief from Diaz’s friends and family.
“The jury really looked at the evidence and couldn't say beyond a reasonable doubt because there just wasn't,” friend Amy Lewis said.
