LEAWOOD, Kan. -- On Wednesday, Leawood residents and community members filled City Hall for Kansas Governor Laura Kelly’s fifth stop in “The Peoples Budget Listening Tour’, pressing her with questions about the state’s budget, federal aid, and ongoing political challenges.
Kelly, joined by Budget Director Adam Proffitt, addressed a range of issues from the state’s fiscal outlook to special education funding.
When asked about the GOP’s push for redistricting, Kelly said she believes the effort faces significant procedural hurdles.
“They will need two-thirds of both chambers to get it finalized during a special session,” Kelly said. “I’m not sure they’ve got that.”
