EAST JORDAN ― The Johannesburg-Lewiston volleyball team has gotten used to playing (and winning) five-set matches throughout the 2025 regular season.

That experience came in handy on November 5.

Facing fellow Ski Valley Conference opponent East Jordan in a district semifinal on Wednesday evening, JL had to survive yet another five-set marathon to earn a spot in the finals. They did just that, dominating the fifth set en route to their 3-2 victory (21-25, 25-7, 25-22, 21-25, 15-4) to earn a spot in the district championship on Thursday.
