TORONTO (ABC4 Sports) - Playing on the second night of a back-to-back, the Utah Mammoth ran out of steam in the third period, giving up three goals in a 5-3 loss at Toronto Wednesday night.
John Tavares snapped a tie in the third period, and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Mammoth for their third consecutive win. The Mammoth (9-5) have now dropped three of its last four after an 8-2 start.
Tavares, William Nylander, Matthew Knies and Matias Maccelli each had a goal and an assist for Toronto. Nylander has five goals and 11 assists during an eight-game point streak.
Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz stopped 21 shots.
