Flags at the White House are lowered to half-staff today following the Nov. 3 death of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
President Donald Trump has yet to release a statement on the passing of Cheney, who died at 84. Cheney served as vice president under former President George W. Bush.
Why are flags at half-staff today?
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said at a press briefing that the flags were lowered "in accordance with statutory law."
The federal law about the position and manner of display of the American flag says it must be flown at half-staff until a former vice president's day of interment.
