MADISON — Artificial intelligence integration into everyday life continues to accelerate, from ChatGPT conversations to AI-powered audiobook narrators, raising serious concerns about widespread job displacement across multiple industries.
The technology's rapid adoption rate surpasses all historical precedents. ChatGPT reached 100 million users in just two months, making it the fastest-growing technology in human history, according to Professor Seitz, who studies AI's economic impact.
"It is the fastest changing technology in the history of mankind," Seitz said. "Most people compare it to the internet. That's the closest analogy we have. But if you think about it, the internet hit 50% penetration in U.S. households in 12 years. We think that AI chatbots will hit 50% in three years."
