US President Donald Trump reiterated his claim that India and Pakistan agreed to a truce in May this year after his intervention. Speaking at an event in Miami, Florida, on Wednesday, Trump stated that his warning of trimming trade prompted New Delhi and Islamabad to stop fighting.

Trump emphasised that he has resolved eight wars in the nine months he has been in office.

“You know, I was in the midst of a trade deal with both of them (India and Pakistan), and then I read on the front page of a certain newspaper… I heard they were going to war,” a news agency quoted him as saying. The US President added that a total of eight planes had been shot down during the military conflict, contradicting his previous claim of seven aircraft.
