Perth Scorchers have received a big boost ahead of their WBBL opener with the Sydney Sixers to be without star Australian captain Alyssa Healy.
Healy copped a blow during their heartbreaking World Cup semifinal loss to India when she dropped a crucial chance after a top edge off Jemimah Rodrigues.
The ball hit the end of Healy’s right thumb, with Rodrigues powering on to make 127 not out and to help India achieve a world record run chase.
“It’s WBBL time, so it’s not unlike me to have some sort of injury,” Healy said.
“I copped a little knock in the semifinal, which I’m sure a few people probably saw, but we’ll see what unfolds over the next four weeks.”
