PORTLAND — Mendon and Portland St. Patrick finished just a handful of points away from each other in the final MHSAA football playoff point system. In fact, the Shamrocks were the top overall team in the state at 37.750 points. Mendon, the second overall team in the state, was just behind them with 37.375.
That means the Hornets, ranked No. 1 in the Michigan Sports Writers final all for the season, is hitting the road for their playoff game on Saturday, Nov. 8. The Hornets and Shamrocks will kick off at 3 p.m.
Mendon head coach Bobby Kretschman said the Shamrocks do a lot of things well.
