It should come as a great relief to West Australians that the Labor Government is finally taking our State’s health challenge seriously.
It took months of reporting by The West Australian on the shambolic and dangerous state of WA hospitals for them to admit things were going badly wrong.
Ramping was at all-time highs, wait lists were blowing out and our doctors and nurses were having to make do with outdated and broken-down infrastructure. Code yellows — meaning a state of internal emergency — were being called almost constantly.
Eventually, Premier Roger Cook conceded our hospitals needed help, signing off on a $50 million rescue blitz package.
