NILES — A Warren man is in the Trumbull County jail after being arrested Wednesday afternoon on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault.

Kenyon Kellum, 52, is accused of stabbing a man in the neck around 3 p.m. at the Gentry Plaza near the intersection of U.S. Route 422 and state Route 46 in Niles, according to Niles Police Capt. John Marshall.

The victim, who has not been named, underwent surgery at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, but his condition is unknown, according to reports.

Police said a verbal dispute near a bus stop escalated into the stabbing and involved a second suspect, a woman. The news release from Marshall does not mention a second suspect.

Kellum will be arraigned this morning by Niles Municipal Court Judge Christopher Shaker.
