ASHEVILLE – The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Nov. 4 to adopt a new strategic plan that will guide the county’s work over the next five years.
The plan’s vision for the county is “a caring community in harmony with its environment where residents succeed, thrive, and realize their potential.” It was originally scheduled to be adopted in October 2024, but was postponed due to Tropical Storm Helene, which pummeled Western North Carolina last September. The storm killed 43 people in Buncombe County and damaged more than 12,000 homes .
