There are not many football games Mike McGinley Sr. replays in his mind. The night of Nov. 13, 1987, is one of the few.

“Fortunately, in my memory, we won it a few times,” McGinley Sr. said a with a laugh.

On that November night in 1987, McGinley’s Cathedral program – a state power coming off its first of now 14 state championships in 1986 – went on the road to play an up-and-coming New Palestine program in a Class 3A regional game (there were five high school football classes at the time).
