FAIRMONT — After a massive public outcry, the state Public Service Commission announced a proposed $80 million Hope Gas rate increase will be halved to $40 million.

The PSC acknowledged the over 800 public comments received on the rate hike, as well as 20 or so residents who opposed the initial rate hike at a public hearing Monday night. However, the new deal between the PSC and Hope Gas has failed to impress at least one Marion County resident.
