The taxes that Rachel Reeves might raise in the budget – from income tax to stamp duty

Rumours of tax rises at this year’s Budget have only grown louder after Rachel Reeves did nothing to stifle them in her speech on Tuesday.

The Chancellor will outline key decisions on taxes and changes to public service spending, such as for the NHS, schools and the police when she stands to speak on November 26.

Her statement will be made to MPs, likely starting at about 12:30pm after Prime Minister’s Questions, and lasts for roughly an hour.

That’s when the British public will learn if the Labour government is actually going to break its manifesto promise not to raise income tax, National Insurance or VAT on ‘working people’.

The Leader of the Opposition, Kemi Badenoch, will then give a response straight after.
