Tesco has warned customers they could face penalties of up to £100 if they break a certain rule. The retail giant, which operates thousands of outlets across the UK and welcomes millions of customers weekly, offers free parking at many locations, though stays are typically restricted to a maximum duration. ‌

Information found on the supermarket's website reads: "Where there is a maximum parking time, our car parks have signs which clearly display the terms and conditions of using the car park, including the maximum stay time. ‌

"This time limit should also be shown on a sign at the entrance." Should customers exceed this permitted period, they risk being hit with a £70 or £100 penalty, depending on which company manages the particular car park. ‌
