The first flurries of the season could arrive in Massachusetts next week.

That is thanks to a low-pressure system moving across the eastern Great Lakes and into eastern Canada Sunday into early Monday, according to the National Weather Service. In the wake of the low-pressure system, Massachusetts will see some of the coldest temperatures of the season.

High temperatures on Tuesday are expected to remain in the high 30s and low 40s, with gusty west winds. With the cooler temperatures, there could be a few flurries and sprinkles.

“Temperatures will feel more like mid-December or even Christmastime in many places by next week,” AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said.

While it will likely only be a few flurries in Massachusetts, other parts of the U.S., like Michigan
