Nineteen sick children from Gaza were evacuated to Italy on Wednesday night.
The transfer took place aboard two Italian Air Force C-130s and a Boeing 767 from Eilat Airport in Israel.
The three planes landed in Rome, Milan, and Verona as part of the sixteenth humanitarian evacuation carried out by Italy since January 2024.
The Palestinian children arrived with their families and were then admitted to 15 different Italian hospitals, according to a note from the Italian Ministry of Defense.
"Italy is at the forefront. We have already brought in around 200 Palestinian children which is a commitment, a concrete testimony, of what we do especially for children," said Gen. Giovanni Maria Iannucci as he welcomed the children at Rome Ciampino airport.
According to the Italian Ministry of Defense, Italy has already evacuated and welcomed 215 minors from Gaza together with their families, for a total of over 750 people.
