CATSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- An autopsy has determined the cause of death of the 32-year-old man found in the Catskill Creek on Sunday. According to the Greene County District Attorney Joseph Stanzione, McKinley Smith died from drowning and hypothermia.

Smith’s body was found around 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the creek after police received a report of a body floating in the water. Officials said an autopsy was completed Monday, and New York State Police identified the male as Smith on Tuesday.

"Although the matter is under investigation, I can state that according to the autopsy the cause of death is drowning/hypothermia," Stanzione said. "There were no physical injuries or trauma noted."

Troopers said an investigation into how Smith ended up in the water is still ongoing.
