ANN ARBOR — Greg Crippen had his best moment as a football card collector this summer. It was only fitting that it involved a Wolverine.

He went on eBay and bought three packs from the Bowman 2000 series, hoping for one particular card. Crippen, Michigan’s starting center the past two seasons, is from Northborough, Massachusetts. He’s a huge New England Patriots fan. Defying the odds, the second pack he opened included the rookie card for the greatest quarterback in NFL history: Michigan alum Tom Brady.

“It was the coolest thing ever,” Crippen said. He recently received the card back from PSA, a company that grades cards on a 10-point scale based on their condition. Crippen’s Brady was a 7 — it had some minor scratches — which means he could sell it for around $800.
