WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One man was arrested after he impersonated a peace officer.

It happened on Nov. 5 after a deputy was dispatched to the Forego Trail area in the Tattersall community of Corbin.

Reportedly, the man stopped two juvenile girls riding a golf cart, showed them a badge, and claimed to be an assistant constable.

The man threatened to issue the two girls a ticket.

After making contact with the girls, their parents, and the impersonator, the deputy put Stephen D. Smith, 53, of Corbin under arrest.

Smith is being held in the Whitley County Detention Center on one count of Impersonating a Peace Officer.
