MOUNT IDA, Ark. — Mount Ida City Mayor Vann Morgan has been arrested for theft following an investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

He was charged with one count of theft of property after an Arkansas Legislative Audit of the City of Mount Ida revealed overpayments totaling $108,684.

Vann Morgan was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Center, but was later released on bond.

This investigation is currently ongoing, and additional arrests and charges are expected.
