WOONSOCKET – After watching a three-game losing streak put a dent into its playoff hopes, the Woonsocket High football team has won three games in a row to clinch the fifth seed in this month’s Division II playoffs.
Woonsocket’s latest victory, last Friday night’s 35-14 win over Moses Brown at the Dionne Track & Field, not only helped the Novans improve to 5-3, but also sent them into Friday’s 6 p.m. quarterfinal-round game against 4th-seeded West Warwick, which is also 5-3, at the Wizards’ Maznicki Field.
In the D-II’s other three quarterfinal-round games on Friday night, top-seeded Westerly will host 8th-seeded Coventry, 2nd-seeded South Kingstown will battle 7th-seeded Lincoln, and 3rd-seeded East Providence will play 6th-seeded Pawtucket. The winner of the Woonsocket-West Warwick mat
