A breezy Thursday with scattered lake-effect rain showers across northwestern mountains will give way to a significant cold front that will bring the season’s first widespread snow early next week .

Temperatures today will be much cooler than Wednesday, reaching the mid-40s to low 50s across central Pennsylvania. In the Harrisburg area, Thursday’s high is supposed to be 55.

Northwest winds will continue to be gusty through the afternoon, with speeds of 20-25 mph before easing this evening as high pressure builds in from the Ohio Valley.

Thousands are still without power in central Pennsylvania after last night’s high winds.
