I have a design dilemma that my husband and I have been pondering for years: what to do with this space under the stairs. We recently finished the main floor and bathrooms and this little area is all that’s left to update.

Hi Laurie,

It looks like you left that space open with an idea in mind, but it sounds like perhaps you and your husband couldn’t quite agree on what to do with it. From the photo, I assume the space is in the middle of the first floor, between the living room at the front of the house and the back where the kitchen is. While you could definitely use the area for extra storage by having custom drawers or doors built to fill it in, another fun idea that comes to mind is to turn it into a beverage centre, be it a bar or a coffee station.
