ATLANTA — Gerardo "Tata" Martino, the first manager in Atlanta United's history and the coach who led the team to an MLS Cup title in 2018, is returning to lead the team once again.

Martino's return to Atlanta comes after the club recently fired Ronny Deila after just one season, United's worst since their MLS debut in 2017.

The team has had four different managers in the six seasons since Martino departed the club after winning the 2018 championship, failing repeatedly to find anyone who could recapture Martino's success in United's first two seasons of 2017-18.
